why is it that when I key it something to search on the web, it always goes to some advertising site?

when i type in a subject to search, then press enter, yahoo gives me all kinds of sites to go to, however, when I choose one, it automatically goes to an advertising site. I’ve ran spyware, antivirus, and nothing is detected. Any suggestions?

It seems like some other methods of advertising (sponsorship. blogging, etc) are proving more effective. I’m not sure what the point of spending $100s is, if I’m not getting fantastic results.

Lately when I’ve been using Yahoo! or Google for searching for websites, it will return matches for my search with legitimate websites. Whenever I click on the link to the website a new window opens and I am redirected to some stupid ad website. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it? I have to actually type in the web address to get to the site I want. It’s really annoying.
